Successful IT Induction for the College of Esports

September 18, 2025

This September, our Managing Director Carl and some of the Aspgate team visited the College of Esports in Lee Valley, London, for a student induction into online safety and good digital etiquette. Working with hundreds of students over the day, we provided a thorough introduction to all things IT.

Presenting to classrooms of new students, Carl covered the fundamentals of online safety, including phishing threats and cyber security. Carl also discussed digital etiquette, the importance of good personal and professional conduct online and the dos and don’ts of acceptable use of college IT equipment. These are vital skills for university life and the workplace. While the College of Esports is a very digital-focussed organisation, we think that all school, college and university students benefit from an understanding of how to stay safe online. With so much of today’s working world taking place in the digital landscape, it’s crucial to ensure young people’s education includes cyber security and good online social skills.

Empowering College of Esports Students with Seamless VLE Access

Furthermore, our IT team enrolled 340 students onto the College of Esports’ online systems. This included setting up logins and multi-factor authentication plus setting up on the college’s Microsoft Teams virtual learning environment (VLE). VLEs form an integral part of contemporary learning, with resources and materials available for students in a digital space accessible via a secure login. These spaces allow students to access learning materials, revisit classroom materials and browse reading lists, thus providing a great foundation for their learning and assessment completion. Virtual learning environments also allow students to join class discussions remotely if needed, thus ensuring students can join class when circumstances such as ill health keep them at home. Working with so many students in such a short space of time was hard work—but we know that the college’s students are starting the year with access to everything they need to make the most of their education.

We really enjoyed our day at the College of Esports, with whom we’ve been working since 2021 on their IT infrastructure, providing a complete revamp of their networking, wifi and IT equipment including desktops. You can read more about that project here.
